During the 3rd meeting of the 15th WAY Executive Committee (EXCO) held on November 12, 2013, in London, United Kingdom, the WAY Executive Committee members decided that the WAY headquarters shall host the XVI WAY General Assembly. The General Assembly will be organized by WAY, in partnership with the Melaka State Government, Malaysia, the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth, Albania and the Albanian Youth Council. This will be held in Tirana, Albania, from 07-11 December 2014.

World Assembly of Youth

The World Assembly of Youth (WAY) is the international coordinating body of national youth councils and organisations. The full members of WAY are national youth councils. WAY has 124 member organisations from all continents.

Founded in 1949, WAY has consultative with various agencies in the United Nations system, including ECOSOC, DPI, UNFPA, UNAIDS, UNEP, UNESCO, WHO and UNCTAD. It acts as a bridge between the youth and the UN.

Malacca's state parliament is called the Legislative Assembly and the party in power forms the Executive Committee. The State Assembly represents the highest authority in the state and decides on policy matters. The EXCO is responsible to the State Assembly and comprises members who are appointed every five years by the political party in power. It is headed by the Governor (Yang Di-Pertua Negeri) who is appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.

The AYC is a nonprofit youth organization, an umbrella NGO type and its activity extends across all the Albanian territory. This national organization was created in 1994 to serve at local and national youth organizations, namely youth, and to mediate the relationship between youth and the state. Reactivated in November 20, 2010, after two years of not being active the Albanian Youth Council gathers 45 Youth NGOs, and 3 observers.
